Palm tree in Makassar

 Palm tree  (pohon lontar)  is a tree that is commonly found in Makassar and its surroundings. Makassar is the capital of South Sulawesi and is one of the major tribes. The pohon lontar  is very attached to the Makassar culture. 

The palm tree produces sap or somep kind of drink that tastes sweet and can also be made into brown sugar. Most people make it as an alcoholic beverage by fermenting it.
